William Hitt is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor with Avance Primary Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.
He received his Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from East Carolina University in 2011. For the past ten years, he has provided counseling in higher education settings to a tremendously diverse array of students, including a community college, a nursing school, and an HBCU.
William is most familiar with issues of anxiety, depression, stress management, family conflict, relationships, grief, and productivity. His counseling style involves a combination of person-centered and cognitive approaches. However, issues within the family of origin and the creation of meaning are prominent components as well. Although patients are the foremost experts on themselves, they can discover clarity and direction by exploring presenting issues in an objective and supportive environment.
William’s personal interests include kayaking, tennis, basketball, board games, and video games. He also enjoys reading nonfiction, watching films, and listening to music. He cares for two rambunctious cats, and loves trying new recipes from his wife’s formidable collection of cookbooks. The two of them moved to the Triangle in 2021, and have taken advantage of the opportunity to try new restaurants, attend Durham Bulls baseball games, and peruse local art festivals.
