Therese Phelan, FNP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Primary Care Provider with Avance Primary Care located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Therese completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Niagara University in western New York and her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner, is NCC certified in Maternal Newborn Nursing, and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Therese began her nursing career at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, MD, where she cared for patients on a medical surgical unit. Once relocated to Boston, MA, she worked at the Beth Israel Hospital caring for patients with cardiac issues. She then moved to Syracuse, NY and cared for patients in the home care setting. After taking some time away from nursing, when her boys were young, she became a teacher’s aide in a first-grade classroom. Since moving to the Triangle area, she has been caring for women of all ages and infants at the Women’s Center at UNC Rex Hospital. Realizing that each patient who comes to see her is someone’s loved family member or someone’s special someone, Therese prides herself in ensuring that her patients are cared for in the manner that she would want one of her loved ones to be cared for.

Therese’s three boys are located up and down the east coast. Originally from Albany, New York, she has family in the northeast and Colorado which gives her the opportunity to travel. She is a big fan of a good book, walking, yoga, football season, and time at the beach.
