Elizabeth Elam, MS, RDN, LDN, CDCES
Elizabeth Elam is a registered dietitian with the Commission on Dietetics Registration and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education. She is a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group. Elizabeth completed both her Master of Science degree in dietetics and Dietetic Internship at Meredith College. She served as the president of her graduate association and volunteered throughout the community delivering nutrition education.
Most recently, Elizabeth was a clinical dietitian at Duke Raleigh Hospital Bariatric and Weight Loss Clinic. She counseled patients in both one-on-one and support group settings to help them achieve personal health goals. Working with this population helped her appreciate that addressing why and how we eat is just as important as addressing what we eat. As an avid home cook, she enjoys demonstrating how foods that may not always be a crowd favorite can be transformed into a dish that people will make for their family. Her philosophy is that delicious food is just as important as nutritious food and they can be one and the same!
In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys working in her garden, cooking and baking, relaxing with a yoga podcast, or taking her dog, Dexter, on long a walk. She loves to dine at many of Raleigh’s amazing restaurants and breweries with her husband. Lastly, Elizabeth is a notorious morning person – always excited to start a new day.
