Tarena D. Scott is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her interest in healthcare began after volunteering as a patient transporter in high school. Through the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) program, she earned her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from Pitt Community College and, subsequently, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from East Carolina University. Tarena went on to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing degree with a concentration in family practice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time at UNC, she volunteered for the school’s Free Mobile Health clinic.

Tarena worked as a registered nurse at Duke University Hospital for six years. The experience that she has gained from working in an adult medical-surgical unit and a pediatric stepdown unit allowed Tarena to provide comprehensive care to individuals of all ages. She is passionate about every single person having access to quality healthcare. And, utilizing a holistic approach, Tarena enjoys collaborating with different specialties to manage the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and social aspects of her patients’ lives. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

As a native of Brooklyn, NY Tarena has always valued meeting new people, learning about diverse cultures, and trying different NY style pizzas! In her free time, she loves to socialize, travel, read, and enjoy music.
