Leonora Tisdale, DNP, FNP-C (she/her) is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She cares for patients at Avance Care in the Preston area of Cary, NC.
Leonora worked as a critical care nurse at UNC Hospital for six years after earning her BSN from UNC-Chapel Hill. As a critical care nurse, she cared for many patients in the end stages of preventable chronic diseases. Her desire to collaborate with patients to prevent these diseases from progressing led her to become a Nurse Practitioner. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from UNC-Chapel Hill while training to become a Family Nurse Practitioner and she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Guilford College. Leonora is committed to the health of all North Carolinians; she is particularly passionate about Women’s Health and the health and safety of LGBTQ patients. Aside from bedside nursing, Leonora has worked as a birth doula, clinical nursing instructor, and cancer researcher, and volunteered on a mobile van that serves migrant farmworkers. She is a member of the North Carolina Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Leonora values building relationships with patients, centering their health goals for collaboration, and providing holistic care.
Leonora and her spouse live in Durham. They have two young children, live close to Leonora’s parents, and enjoy an extended network of friend-family. She enjoys spending time outside in all seasons, listening to audiobooks, traveling, cooking and eating delicious food, and time together with loved ones.
