Tyrek Corry (he/him/his) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate serving patients at Avance Psychiatry and Pain Management in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Tyrek finished his Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill, NC along with a Master of Divinity from Duke University. During his time at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke, he gained clinical experience in a variety of settings including small and large non-profits along with educational and church settings. He has experience working with individuals, groups, adults, adolescents, and children in the following areas: skill-building, social development, trauma, anxiety, and other mental health needs.
Tyrek is passionate about providing spaces where people can move from a place of survival to thriving while caring for the whole person. He understands that healing is a journey and clients must have an active voice in the process which includes making room for all that it means for them to be human in the therapeutic space. His own faith and spiritual beliefs inform his desire to walk alongside people through the various difficulties and circumstances they face in their lives. To this end, Tyrek uses a mixture of evidence-based practices to guide his interaction with clients.
In his free time, Tyrek can be found spending time with his partner trying new restaurants, or visiting close family and friends. During the football season, you will find him cheering on the Clemson Tigers to victory. Tyrek also enjoys writing, listening to music, and making/drinking coffee with a good book.
