Edwin Houng, MD is a board-certified Family Physician serving adults, adolescents and kids at Avance Primary Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.
He successfully completed his Family Medicine Residency training at Duke/Southern Regional AHEC in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Prior to joining Avance Care, Dr. Houng served as a clinician and teacher as part of the Faculty Staff at his Residency training practice for 2 years.
Dr. Houng is originally from New York City, but grew up in Ecuador, South America, where he attended Medical School at University of Guayaquil. With his multi-ethnic background, Dr. Houng is a native Spanish and Chinese-Cantonese speaker.
Dr. Houng has experience treating patients of all ages and a variety of medical conditions, from chronic diseases to acute illnesses. He believes in the importance of preventive medicine and patient counseling. He has a special interest in musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries, and dermatologic procedures.
Dr. Houng enjoys spending quality time with his family at home or at the diverse, beautiful, outdoor sceneries that North Carolina has to offer. He is an avid athlete and a soccer fanatic. If not at work or at home, you can find him either playing or coaching soccer, playing tennis, golf, softball, or volleyball, or kayaking. He enjoys traveling and his most memorable trip was to Brazil for the Soccer World Cup in 2014.
