My first job: When I was 12 years old I passed out guides to people as they entered the local fair in our area. I also sold nightcrawlers from my house (I did not profit much).
Why primary care: I love the continuity of care and relationships I develop with my patients.
Why I love Avance Care: I like the emphasis they put on being a medical home for our patients. We offer many services in house to avoid unnecessary referrals and continuity of care.
If I wasn’t a primary care provider I would be: A forensic scientist – Ever since I watched “The Bone Collector” when I was younger I have always been interested in this field.
My favorite part of medicine is: Preventative care; I like being aggressive early on to prevent chronic medical diseases.
If someone wanted to start a conversation with me, they should ask me about: My two chocolate labs, Wrigley and Soldier.
How I connect to patients: I try to find a common interest between the patient and myself, like hobbies, pets, sports, etc.
The one piece of medical advice I tell my patients but have a difficult time incorporating into my own life: Definitely healthy eating – I love salty junk food!
If I have a three day weekend, I can be found: Playing with my dogs, eating out with my husband, and watching a good Netflix series.
The four people I would invite to my ultimate dinner party: I find people’s lives so interesting so I would choose (1) a prison warden – I would love to ask a million questions about “prison life,” (2) Lisa Vanderpump from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills – to see if adult women really act like that in real life, (3) a Green Beret – to learn more about the training they did and their missions, and lastly, (4) a top-rated trauma surgeon in the country – I would enjoy listening to their stories and soaking up as much information as I could.
