What is PrEP?
- PrEP, or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, is a preventive medication regimen for individuals at high risk of acquiring HIV that significantly reduce the risk of HIV infection. There are two daily oral pill forms of PrEP, along with two injectable forms, one option administered every two months and the other option every six months.
Is PrEP covered by Insurance?
- HIV PrEP is a Grade A health recommendation by the USPSTF. For patients with insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid, HIV PrEP services are fully covered.
