Integrated Aging Care

Staying Sharp, Steady, and Engaged as Your Age.

Stay Sharp, Stay Independent, Stay You

Nearly 1 in 5 adults over 60 experience symptoms that affect their mood, memory, or daily behavior—but many chalk it up to “just getting older.”

In reality, these changes aren’t always a normal part of aging. And they don’t have to be permanent.

At Avance Psychiatry, we provide specialized behavioral health care designed to support your brain, mood, and behavior as you age—so you can stay independent, active, and in control.

What is Integrated Aging Care?

While general adult psychiatry focuses on mood, stress, and mental health challenges across the lifespan, Senior Psychiatry addresses the unique needs that come with aging, such as:

  • Age-related memory changes and early cognitive decline (including Mild Cognitive Impairment and early Alzheimer’s or dementia)
  • Overlap between physical health and emotional wellbeing, like how chronic illness, medication side effects, or sleep problems may affect mood or thinking
  • Behavioral changes tied to brain health, such as increased agitation, withdrawal, or confusion that are often misunderstood or dismissed
  • More sensitive medication management, considering how aging bodies metabolize prescriptions differently and are more prone to side effects

Could This Be Happening to Me?

  • Worrying more than usual, or feeling anxious for no clear reason
  • Losing interest in hobbies, social time, or things you used to enjoy
  • Trouble concentrating, focusing, or remembering names or appointments
  • Feeling more irritable, tired, or withdrawn than usual
  • Sleeping too much—or too little
  • Appetite changes or loss of energy
  • Feeling “off” but not sure why

How to Know if a Loved One Needs Support?

Often, family members are the first to notice small changes. If you’ve observed any of these in a loved one, it may be time to reach out:

  • Repeating the same questions or stories
  • Wandering, getting lost, or becoming disoriented in familiar places
  • Trouble with everyday tasks like cooking or paying bills
  • Trouble following conversations or finding the right words
  • Unusual behaviors: agitation, aggression, or paranoia
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren’t there
  • Withdrawing from family, friends, or regular activities

These changes don’t always mean dementia—but they’re important to address early.

Catching Changes Early Matters

  • Slow the progression of memory delay
  • Improve mood and reduce agitation
  • Restore sleep and appetite
  • Reduce confusion and help with daily functionality
  • Prevent unnecessary hospital visits or long-term care placements

Conditions We Commonly Support

  • Dementia / Alzheimer’s Disease – memory loss, personality changes, hallucinations
  • Mild Cognitive Impairment – forgetfulness or confusion that’s new or worsening
  • Depression – persistent sadness, fatigue, loss of joy or motivation
  • Anxiety – including constant worry, restlessness, tremors, or panic

What can support look like?

  • Memory testing to assess memory, attention, and thinking process
  • Screenings to catch early signs of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)—which may be subtle but signal changes worth addressing early
  • Caregiver involvement, because support from loved ones is a key part of successful treatment in older adults
  • Personalized treatment planning that looks at the whole person—physical, emotional, cognitive, and social
