T. Payson Thompson, MD is a board-certified Family Physician practicing Primary Care and Family Medicine at Avance Care in Morrisville, North Carolina.
Dr. Thompson is originally from High Point, NC and attended medical school at East Carolina University. There, he met his wife Dr. Jennifer Thompson, and they both graduated in 2005. They both pursued a career in Family Medicine after marrying and completed medical mission work in Central America for one year.
Dr. Thompson received his Family Medicine training in Ventura, California at a respected residency program known for training full-spectrum family doctors. He gained experience in all aspects of family medicine, but was especially drawn to outpatient medicine and the intimate relationships formed with patients over many years.
Dr. Thompson enjoys working with a variety of patients and feels confident caring for all ages from birth to end of life. Payson speaks Spanish fluently, but is open to learning about and caring for people from other cultures and all walks of life. Other areas of interest in the medical field include rheumatology and arthritis, sports medicine, emergency services, and gynecology.
Dr. Thompson has many hobbies outside of his medical career that primarily revolve around his family and his love of the outdoors. He enjoys riding his bike, running, and swimming. One may even find him with a surfboard strapped to his car heading to the beach. Relaxing at home with his wife and eating good, healthy meals might be his favorite hobby of all.
