Michelle Wood, LCSW-A, LCAS-A, is a Behavioral and Mental Health Clinician seeing patients at Avance Care Behavioral Health at Centers of Excellence
Michelle earned her Master of Social Work degree from North Carolina State University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Public History. She has experience working in residential substance use treatment and integrated primary care behavioral health settings.
She specializes in working with adults navigating trauma, substance use disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Her approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. She strives to create a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel seen and heard.
Michelle draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrates mindfulness practices and somatic awareness to support overall well-being.
Originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, Michelle now resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with her spouse, reading, and working on home renovation projects with the enthusiastic “help” of her black lab, Oliver. Michelle values lifelong learning, personal growth, and meaningful community engagement, bringing intentionality to both her clinical practice and personal life.
