Melisa Gaspar de Alba, FNP-C, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), providing care and accepting new patients at Avance Care Garner in Garner, North Carolina.
She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from Duke University School of Nursing. Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Melisa spent nine years as an emergency and trauma registered nurse. During that time, she saw how mental health, health literacy, and preventive care directly shape physical health. She loved the energy of the emergency room but is excited about building relationships with her patients and being an active and ongoing part of their healthcare journey.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Melisa enjoys caring for individuals across the lifespan and has special interests in women’s health and caring for the Latino population. She has spent extensive time in Central and South America working in maternal and pediatric health. She is fluent in Spanish and is dedicated to providing inclusive, culturally responsive care to diverse patient populations. Melisa embraces shared decision-making, guiding patients to take an active role in their health so they leave each visit feeling heard, valued, and genuinely cared for.
Melisa grew up in the western United States but now lives in Cary and is a proud mother of three. Outside of the clinic, you will find her planning her next trip, trail running, dancing to live music, and exploring national parks.
