Mason Poythress, LCMHCA is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate providing therapy at Avance Behavioral Health at the Center of Excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Mason earned his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2025. He also holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in Economics from North Carolina State University.
Mason takes a person-centered approach to therapy, walking alongside clients as they navigate life’s changes, challenges, and uncertainties. He focuses on each individual’s unique strengths and needs to promote self-awareness, resilience, and authentic self-acceptance. He believes this work helps clients cultivate meaning, connection, and joy in their lives.
He enjoys supporting young adults and adults from diverse backgrounds, including neurodiverse individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. As a more than 10-year veteran of the North Carolina Army National Guard, Mason also takes pride in helping uniformed populations and their families navigate the unique challenges of service.
Outside of work, Mason enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, working out, and playing board games with family and friends. A Raleigh native, he also loves exploring new restaurants and local leisure spots.
