Louise Metz, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine Physician with expertise in eating disorders and gender-affirming care. She also provides primary and urgent care to adults, adolescents & kids in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in Biology and Women’s Studies at Duke University, she attended medical school at the University of North Carolina. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco. She has held academic positions at NYU’s Bellevue Hospital in New York and Duke School of Medicine and has published research on heart disease in women.
Dr. Metz provides individualized, comprehensive primary care, including preventive medicine and management of chronic medical conditions. She has particular expertise and clinical interest in eating disorders, gender-affirming care, menopausal care, migraine headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, and the management of depression and anxiety. She offers a holistic, patient-centered approach and provides multidisciplinary care for her patients by collaborating closely with other providers. Dr. Metz is passionate about providing weight-inclusive care and is committed to increasing access to inclusive and affirming medical care for all individuals.
Dr. Metz lives in Chapel Hill with her husband and two boys. When she is not in the office, she enjoys watching her boys play sports, hiking, and spending time at the mountains and the beach with her family.
