Elise “Katie” Laney is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist through the state of North Carolina and a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Clinical Practice through the state of South Carolina. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Katie has experience working as an outpatient psychotherapist in community medical settings, non-profit agencies, and substance abuse treatment facilities.
Katie’s areas of expertise include depression and mood disorders, anxiety, trauma, addiction, grief/loss, relationships, life transitions, psychosocial stressors, and treating individuals with HIV and chronic medical conditions. Katie utilizes evidence-based practices including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Through the therapy process, Katie works with patients to promote emotional well-being, self-awareness, and better overall growth and development.
Katie is from Wilmington, North Carolina and lives in Waxhaw with her husband and daughter. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, cooking, listening to music, traveling to the beach or mountains, and being outdoors.
