Katherine “Kate” Walsh, FNP, is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner who specializes in providing primary care services to individuals of all age groups at Avance Primary Care in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Kate completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before relocating to North Carolina. With a strong foundation, she spent a span of five years as a critical care nurse at the UNC Health Center, catering to the needs of critically ill patients. Her dedication to advancing her skills led her to pursue FNP training at UNC Chapel Hill. She holds memberships in esteemed professional associations including the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Sigma Theta Tau Honors Society. During her tenure at UNC-Chapel Hill, Kate also served as an Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) scholar, receiving specialized training in integrating mental health and substance abuse initiatives into the realm of primary care.
Kate is deeply committed to advocating for preventive and inclusive healthcare for all. Her experience as an inpatient nurse heightened her understanding of the consequences of unmet healthcare needs. Additionally, her work at the UNC Mobile Health Clinic which served underserved areas reinforced her belief in the transformative potential of education and tailored wellness strategies in promoting healthier lifestyles. Kate firmly believes in nurturing patient relationships, co-establishing objectives, and utilizing evidence-based guidance to empower patients in achieving their health goals.
During her downtime, Kate enjoys attending concerts, engaging in running, immersing herself in reading, going on hikes, practicing yoga, indulging in baking and cooking, exploring new travel destinations, cherishing moments with her loved ones, and embarking on strolls with her dog, Kodiak. She always welcomes new suggestions of fun things to do or see. Originally hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, Kate’s vibrant and diverse experiences have contributed to shaping her multifaceted approach to healthcare.
