James Cook, MSN, FNP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner serving patients at Avance Care in Charlotte at Mallard Creek.
James received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Fort Valley State University. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University School of Nursing. James practiced as a registered nurse for 5 years serving the critical care population, before receiving his Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner from Winston-Salem State University. He is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the North Carolina Nurses Association.
James is originally from a small unincorporated town in Georgia called Cataula. He, however, has been a resident of North Carolina since 2015. Since childhood, James has had a strong interest in health care. He believes in serving with kindness while providing quality evidence-based care. James is passionate about preventive health and aims to assist his patients in obtaining and/or maintaining their health goals. James has special interests in providing health care needs to the LGBTQ+ communities including the prevention of sexually transmitted infections.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, trying new cuisines, and watching reality television.
