Derek Whalen, PA-C, is a board-certified Physician Assistant providing patient care at Avance Care Rea Farms, North Carolina.
Derek obtained his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology from Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania. Derek continued his academic pursuit at Slippery Rock University, where he completed the Physician Assistant program and obtained a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
Launching his professional career in Philadelphia after graduation, Derek has extensive experience in treating a wide range of diseases. Leveraging his passion for physical fitness, he seamlessly incorporates discussions about healthy living into patient interactions. He places a strong emphasis on patient education and establishing meaningful connections to foster trust and comfort in his patients.
In his leisure time, Derek engages in outdoor activities such as hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling alongside his wife, Kelly. Additionally, Derek finds fulfillment in coaching baseball and, as a sports enthusiast, passionately cheers for the Penn State Nittany Lions, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Baltimore Orioles.
