Anne Herron, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently accepting clients at Avance Care Broad Street in Durham, NC.
Anne earned her Master of Social Work from the Simmons University School of Social Work in Boston, MA. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. With more than 20 years of professional experience, Anne began her career working in elementary school settings before transitioning to work with adults. Since 2013, she has provided outpatient therapy to adults in North Carolina.
Anne takes a person-centered, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approach to care. She incorporates modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through DBT, she helps clients “build a life worth living,” a concept developed by Marsha Linehan. She supports clients in staying present and developing skills to manage unwanted thoughts and feelings through mindfulness, grounding exercises, and coordinated care with medical providers.
Born in Boston and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Anne later returned to Boston to raise her family before relocating to North Carolina in 2012 with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, walking, reading, and spending time with family, friends, and her Labradoodle, Jack.
