Andy Sutton (he/they), M.Ed., LCMHCA is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate providing therapy at Avance Psychiatry in Charlotte, North Carolina
They hold a Master of Education in Counseling and Development from Winthrop University and a Bachelor degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where they also participated in a study abroad program.
Andy has gained valuable experience working in both community counseling clinics and private practice, collaborating closely with members of the LGBTQIA2S+, transgender, and non-binary communities.
He is are particularly dedicated to supporting individuals navigating PTSD, complex PTSD (C-PTSD), trauma-related concerns, dissociation, LGBTQIA2S+/trans/non-binary issues, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. His counseling approach integrates Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed practices, Inner Child Work, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered counseling, and strengths-based therapy. Andy’s eclectic style allows him to adapt his methods to the unique needs of each client, with a focus on helping individuals regulate their nervous system, embrace all parts of themselves, and become their own healer.
In his free time, Andy enjoys a wide range of hobbies, including playing Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) and other role-playing games, cross-stitching, creating art, playing video games, watching anime, solving puzzles, and collecting miniatures, crystals, and gemstones. On weekends, you can often find him attending cultural events, exploring art markets and conventions, or enjoying Korean corn dogs.
