Ana María Hernandez, LPA, is a Licensed Psychological Associate, providing bilingual psychotherapy (English/Spanish), ADHD assessments, and pre-surgical evaluations at Avance Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She works primarily with adults and older adults, bringing over two decades of clinical experience supporting individuals through stress, anxiety, depression, grief, and losses that may not always be recognized or understood by others, as well as acculturation stress, loneliness, relationship challenges, intimacy concerns, health-related life changes, aging, and life transitions.
Ana María sees therapy as a collaborative process and, in many ways, as a shared journey, walking alongside clients as they navigate distress, change, and growth. Her integrative approach draws from insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, motivational interviewing, narrative, expressive arts, somatic, and meaning-centered modalities, tailored to each individual while balancing practical strategies with deeper reflection. Her work may also include exploring meaning and purpose.
Outside of her professional work, Ana María enjoys reading, exploring cozy coffee shops, spending quiet time in nature, and capturing everyday moments through her camera lens. She values community, friendship, and meaningful conversation. Ana María lives in Durham with her loved ones, both human and feline.
