Alexandra Fitzgerald, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant and Primary Care Provider with Avance Primary Care in Cary, North Carolina.

Alexandra was born and raised in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Immediately following high school, she went on to a five-year master’s degree program at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2005, she graduated with her Master of Physician Assistant Studies and moved to North Carolina to join her husband who was stationed at Fort Bragg in the United States Army.

At 23 years old, she began her career as a physician assistant working in orthopedic surgery. After a couple of years working in a specialty field, she felt she was limiting herself and wanted to expand her knowledge and experience; so in 2007, she started working at a practice that offered urgent and primary care services. She appreciated the variety and fast pace of urgent care and fell in love with primary care. Orthopedics continues to be an area of medicine that she has a particular interest in, but the role of a primary care provider has proven to be her passion. In this position, she has been able to form relationships with her patients and their families. For Alexandra, being able to help patients protect their health as they go through life’s challenges has been immensely satisfying.

Alexandra currently lives in Cary with her husband, nine-year-old daughter, and their two dogs. She and her husband are passionate about fitness and love to be active. Alex particularly enjoys playing tennis, hiking, cycling classes, and yoga. Her top priority is her daughter and if prompted, like most moms, she will ramble about her child for days. Alex is also an animal lover and will be happy to share all about her pups with nearly as much enthusiasm.
