Alexandra Braswell is a Licensed Behavioral and Mental Health Therapist with Avance Primary Care’s Behavioral Health Centers of Excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina. She provides sessions virtually at this time.
Alex graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Social Work. Alex is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and EMDRIA-Approved Consultant-In-Training. She has clinical experience working with clients who experience challenges related to trauma, abuse, dissociation, depression, anxiety, attachment, and life changes.
Alex specializes in trauma and believes that therapy works when there is understanding, support, trust, and a sense of safety within the therapeutic space. She comes from a Strengths-based perspective to empower clients to feel authentic, secure, and connected as difficult experiences are processed. Alex uses EMDR, ego states/parts work, and other evidence-based modalities through the lens of Polyvagal Theory to help clients navigate past traumas, current life stresses, and future goals and worries.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Alex moved to North Carolina in 2011 to pursue school. Now Alex lives near the beach with her husband, son, dog, and cat. When not working Alex enjoys outside activities with her family, watching shows and movies, taking care of her plants, and trying new restaurants in Wilmington.
