Matt Eirich
CEO
Throughout Matt Eirich’s 20+ year career in health care, he has built and scaled businesses to enable providers to capture emerging growth opportunities and transition to value-based care. He is passionate about helping independent physicians and their patients thrive. Matt became CEO of Avance Care in August 2022. He also serves as CEO of Alo, the MSO parent company of the Avance MSO. Prior to his Avance Care and Alo roles, Matt served as the first Chief Growth Officer for Humana’s primary care brands, CenterWell and Conviva, two of the largest senior-focused, value-based primary care businesses in the country. He also held several leadership positions at The Advisory Board Company, a research, technology and consulting company serving over 4,500 partner health care organizations. Matt is a B.A. graduate of Davidson College and holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Paul Hain, MD
Alo Chief Clinical Officer
Avance Care Head of OCMO
As Alo Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Paul Hain leads the Avance Care Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), providing leadership and oversight of all Avance Care clinical services and relationships. He advocates for comprehensive Primary Care to be at the center of the medical ecosystem and believes that patient safety, patient experience, and high-quality outcomes remain the cornerstones of great care. Leveraging his experience in both leading provider- and payor-based initiatives, Paul works to create and sustain high-performing practices and provider networks.
Paul brings a wealth of experience as both a physician leader and innovator in value-based and ambulatory care, including as VP for Population Health and Network Development at UT Southwestern and Dallas Children’s Hospital, and as Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and for GoHealth, a Medicare Advantage focused corporation.
Paul completed medical school and residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Following residency, he founded Vanderbilt’s Pediatric Hospitalist Program. During his ten plus years on faculty, he held multiple hospital roles including Chief of Quality, Chief of Staff, and Director of Utilization Review. Paul also holds an engineering degree from Rice University and, prior to medical school, worked as a corrosion engineer in Alaska.
Amanda Steventon, MD
Medical Director
Amanda Steventon, MD is a board-certified family physician offering primary care to adults, adolescents, and children in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. As Avance Care Medical Director, she organizes and coordinates clinical services across 25+ practices with 80+ providers.
Dr. Steventon has been practicing medicine for over 10 years. She attended the University of Kansas for her undergraduate degree, studying genetics. Then went to medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and completed her residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wesley Family Medicine residency program in Wichita.
Ashwin A. Patkar, MD, MRCPsych, DFASAM, DFAPA
Chief of Avance Psychiatry
Dr. Ashwin A. Patkar is Chief of Avance Psychiatry and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at Rush University Medical Center, Chicago. He was formerly Professor of Psychiatry and Community and Family Medicine at Duke University Medical Center, NC.
Dr. Ashwin A. Patkar has over 25 years of clinical and scientific experience in psychopharmacology, addiction, dual diagnoses, and integration of medical care for psychiatric disorders. Dr Patkar is certified in psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, addiction medicine, and pain medicine. He has published over 250 scientific articles, 6 book chapters, and has given over 400 presentations and invited lectures at national and international meetings. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatry Association (APA), president of North Carolina Chapter of ASAM, the past president of the Indo-American Psychiatric Association, and member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry, American Academy of Pain Medicine, Indian Psychiatric Society, Royal College of Psychiatrists, and World Psychiatric Association.
Amato Amarain
Chief Financial Officer
Amato Amarain joined Alo in April 2024 as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities, including Financial Planning & Analysis, Accounting, Revenue Cycle Management, and Capital Deployment.
Amato is an experienced healthcare executive with a proven track record in strategic leadership and financial management across major academic medical centers and medical groups. With extensive experience in healthcare operations and finance, he excels in partnering with physicians, executive boards, and staff to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Throughout his career, Amato has successfully managed medical groups with over $2 billion in revenue, driving success by identifying areas for improvement and enhancing efficiencies.
Amato’s career highlights include restructuring MSO services across multiple entities, integrating major medical schools into medical group management, and overseeing significant revenue budget growth and physician employment expansions. He has also played pivotal roles in implementing EMR and billing systems across large healthcare systems.
In addition to financial leadership roles at RWJ Barnabas Health and Northwell Health Physician Partners, Amato has consulted at various prestigious institutions and health systems, providing expertise in decision support systems, auditing, reporting policies, and contract review.
Amato holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from St. John’s University and has completed the Academy for Healthcare Leadership Advancement at Cornell University. He is also a subject matter expert presenter in reimbursement, decision support, and business intelligence, and is affiliated with professional organizations such as HFMA, MGMA, and AMGA.
John Tuman
Vice President of Information Technology
John Tuman has experience working in a variety of industries, including finance, technology, and utilities; however, in the past twenty years he has immersed himself in the healthcare industry. Mr. Tuman served at Chief Technology Officer at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, an 850-bed acute care hospital in Wilmington, NC. Mr. Tuman earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and his MBA and a certification in Health Sector Management from The Duke Fuqua School of Business. Tuman holds a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and is also a registered Professional Engineer (PE). Mr. Tuman has three adult children and a wife of 30 years. John enjoys electronics, running, and tinkering with his 1969 Austin Healey.
