Getting the flu vaccine is vital to keeping you and your family healthy
Who Should Get a Flu Vaccine?
The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone six months of age and up. The flu shot is especially recommended if you are pregnant. It’s safe for both mother and baby during any stage of pregnancy. If you have concerns about having an allergy to anything in the flu shot, talk to your doctor. If you have a chronic disease, such as severe asthma, diabetes, or an immune disorder, it is very important to get a flu shot yearly.
Receiving a flu vaccination can’t give you seasonal flu.
Can I get the flu vaccine during a routine visit at Avance Care?
If you have an annual wellness exam or other visit with a health care provider already scheduled, you can receive a vaccine during that appointment. Ask about receiving the vaccine ahead of your visit by sending a message to your doctor through our patient portal or during check-in. If you’re accompanying your child to an appointment, you can also ask to get a vaccination at the same time your child receives one.
How do I schedule an appointment for the flu vaccine at Avance Care?
If you need a flu vaccine but don’t have an upcoming appointment, we ask that you call to schedule an appointment. Some clinics may offer walk-in availability and parking lot flu shots which makes it even more convenient.
