Avance Care Wilmington Celebrates Community and Giving as Title Sponsor of Dashing Thru the Glow 5K
Wilmington, N.C. — October 17, 2025 — Avance Care Wilmington is proud to serve as the Title Sponsor of the 10th Annual Dashing Thru the Glow 5K, a beloved holiday event that celebrates health, family, and community spirit.
This year’s milestone event is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of connection and compassion. As part of the festivities, Avance Care Wilmington is partnering with event organizers to support two meaningful causes: Toys for Tots and The Open House Youth Shelter.
“At Avance Care Wilmington, we’re honored to care for families in this community and to give back in ways that make a difference,” said Dr. Rock Vomer, DO, DPT, CAQSM, Owner and Lead Physician at Avance Care Wilmington. “Dashing Thruh the Glow is such a special event. It brings people together in the spirit of the holidays, and this year we’re channeling that energy to support children and youth who need it most. In a community like ours, giving back when we can is simply the right thing to do. We’re neighbors, and neighbors take care of each other.”
The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation has been bringing the joy of Christmas to children and families in need since 1947 by collecting and distributing new, unwrapped toys each holiday season. Locally, about 15.5% of children in New Hanover County live below the poverty line, roughly 3,300 children who may go without gifts this year.
Avance Care Wilmington has set a goal to collect 300 toys to help brighten the holidays for local kids.
The practice is also shining a light on the Open House Youth Shelter, which provides displaced, abused, neglected, and vulnerable youth with a safe place to stay. The shelter offers food, clothing, counseling, educational opportunities, life skills development, and recreational activities, helping each child build confidence, hope, and stability for a brighter future.

The Dashing Thru the Glow 5K takes place on Saturday, December 13th at Live Oak Bank Pavilion in downtown Wilmington, NC, welcoming families and participants of all ages to kick off the holiday season with health, joy, and giving.
