Adderall Shortage Affecting North Carolina

A letter to Avance Care patients from Avance Care Medical Director, Amanda Steventon, MD.

This letter is to inform you of a nationwide supply interruption involving Adderall.

The United States has now entered its fifth month of an Adderall shortage; this shortage has been occurring since October of 2022. Many of our patients may have already had trouble receiving Adderall, or similar, prescriptions. While our staff makes every effort to order and fill your needed prescriptions in a timely manner, we are unfortunately not immune to this nationwide shortage.

Adderall is a medication that manages attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and has few alternatives. Because of an unexpected rise in demand, Ritalin, Adderall, and generic brand, Vyvanse, is unavailable to many across the country.

Avance Care recognizes the importance of this drug and will update you when additional information becomes available. If this is a medication you rely on, we recommend you speak with your pharmacy to find out what is available in your area. We will continue to monitor the shortage and inform our patients of any news or possible updates we may have.
