Shivas Gilotra, FNP-C is a Primary Care Provider and board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner serving patients at Avance Primary Care in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Shivas is board-certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. He also carries certification from the American Heart Association in BLS, ACLS, and PALS; the American College of Surgeons in ATLS; and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in DOT Physicals. Originally from New Orleans, LA, Shivas graduated with both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Louisiana State University in 2010 and 2015, respectively.
As a registered nurse, Shivas established the basis of his knowledge and experience as a floor and charge nurse in the telemetry/stroke unit at Ochsner Health System. Knowing that he could provide more for his patients, he went back to school and became a nurse practitioner, gaining 2.5 years of emergency medicine experience and 2 years of family practice and urgent care experience. His driving force as a provider is educating patients enough to not only understand their conditions but carry out the best quality of life living with them.
Shivas moved to North Carolina in 2017 and settled in Cary, NC after marrying his wife in December 2019. In addition to practicing medicine and learning about the most up-to-date comprehensive treatment approaches, Shivas enjoys urgent care medicine, fitness, music, leadership activities, computer science, DJing, and food… especially food!
