Sharon Roberts-Carter MS, LCMHC, LPC
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Sharon Roberts-Carter is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. She received her master’s degree in counseling from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, NC. A native of Danville, VA she has continued to reside and to work in North Carolina since her graduate program.

Sharon has over 20 years of experience in the field of mental health and substance abuse treatment. She provides individual therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy and has worked with the military, children, adolescents, and adults. The various issues that Sharon addresses with individuals include anxiety, anger management, attention deficit, depression, grief /loss, parent guidance, PTSD, relationship problems, trauma, and workplace stressors. Her goal as a therapist is to create a supportive, empathetic, and nonjudgmental environment in which individuals can explore their own emotional needs, discuss behavioral issues, and overcome barriers that limit their full potential in the home, in the workplace, and in the community. Sharon is very eclectic and client-centered in her approach to therapy and always utilize strength-based approaches in her work. The following are some of the tools that she uses in the process of therapy: a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), education, empathetic understanding, psychological insight, and reality-oriented practical problem solving to help people help themselves. She firmly believes that people basically know what they want out of life; however, sometimes they need a little guidance and some support to help them achieve their goals.

Sharon enjoys spending time with her husband, her family, and her friends. She loves vacationing, watching movies, decorating, and reading. Sharon also has a 15-year-old Shih Tzu named Teddy Love Carter who is spoiled rotten.
