Why Use Avance Care for Telehealth?
We are local.
Unlike other telehealth providers, Avance Care does not outsource our telehealth services. You receive confidential care from an Avance Care provider and if in-person care is needed, you will be able to see the same provider you saw remotely.
We are comprehensive.
We are able to address a wider range of primary care and urgent care concerns. Our telehealth service is supported by our large network of primary care practices across North Carolina, open 7 days a week with same-day appointments available.
We are integrated.
Our comprehensive in-person services work in conjunction with telehealth, including in-house labs, x-rays, and specialty offerings such as behavioral wellness, nutrition, and allergy services.
We are invested in your health.
Our local team of providers take an active role in the management and coordination of your total health, promoting and reinforcing positive changes. By actively managing your acute care, chronic conditions, and preventive care, you avoid unnecessary visits to expensive urgent cares and the emergency department.
What Concerns Can Be Addressed Via Telehealth?
Telehealth is able to address the majority of primary care and urgent care concerns, and treatment can be seamlessly escalated to in-person care within the local Avance Care ecosystem.
Here are a few health concerns that can be addressed during your telehealth/virtual visit:
- Sore throat
- Cold and flu symptoms
- Urinary tract infection
- Rash & other minor skin conditions
- Pain in back, neck, or limbs
- Chronic condition follow-ups (e.g. depression, ADD, high blood pressure and diabetes)
What is Telehealth?
Avance Care now offers telehealth services for all new and established patients. Telehealth – using your home computer, smartphone, or tablet with a camera and secure internet connection – allows you to connect virtually with your physician or provider without coming into the office.
You may now see your Avance Care provider – including your primary care doctor, behavioral wellness, and nutrition providers – virtually. Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, allows you to receive confidential services from any private, remote location that works for you, removing many day-to-day barriers that may otherwise keep you from getting the care you need. Our virtual doctor’s visits are appropriate to evaluate medical conditions including mild and most moderate illnesses, and concerns about infection with COVID-19. A virtual visit is also appropriate to manage ongoing health conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, and depression.
Covered by BlueCross BlueShield NC, Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. Self-pay options available.
What Are the Benefits of Telehealth?
- It is the preferred method for care due to COVID-19 limitations
- It allows you to continue receiving essential care services from any location
- It avoids disruption of treatment due to travel, vacation, relocation, etc.
- It eliminates traveling long distances for appointments
- It is convenient to schedule, virtually attend, and follow-up with your provider
- It offers an easier communication and appointment option for those who are home-bound due to medical conditions
- It spares the time it would take to travel to and attend appointments, so you can fit into a lunch hour or break
Virtual Specialty Services
You can also now see specialty services from the comfort of your home! In addition to medical appointments, Avance Care nutrition and behavioral wellness services are available to you via telehealth or virtual televisit. You can book your appointment by calling (919) 237-1337 option 4.
Telehealth appointments for specialty services are carried out through the Zoom app platform. Zoom communications are similar to the platform used to conduct visits with your primary care provider but allow your dietitian or behavioral wellness specialist to share education and resources virtually.
Commonly Asked Questions
I'm worried about COVID-19. Should I still book an appointment?
Yes! Your medical care IS an “essential service.” It is very important to manage your chronic conditions, long-term health goals, and preventive care during the pandemic so you don’t end up at costly, overburdened urgent cares and emergency rooms (places that typically have a higher risk of exposure to coronavirus). Our clinic is cleaned frequently and thoroughly. It is much safer to see your primary care doctor than visit your local grocery store or home improvement store. We also offer telehealth services so it is still convenient to book an appointment without having to travel to a location in person.
We’re here for you whether you prefer an in-person visit, telehealth/virtual visit, or even via telephone. Whatever makes you the most comfortable.
How do I know if I should schedule a telehealth visit versus an in-person visit?
Many conditions can be managed with a telehealth visit including cold, flu, allergy symptoms, many types of rashes, and painful conditions in most areas of the body. Telehealth is perfect for evaluating symptoms of anxiety and other behavioral concerns like depression, anxiety, and ADD. Many chronic conditions can be monitored with telehealth.
Your instincts and preference are usually the best ways to figure out if a telehealth visit is right for you.
