Lauren Harrison is a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech and went on to complete her Dietetic Internship through the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. After graduating, she began working in residential eating disorder treatment and recovery with clients ranging from young adolescence into middle adulthood. Being alongside patients during their journeys to recovery from an acute eating disorder only strengthened Lauren’s passion for empowering others in building, mending, and maintaining positive relationships with food while adequately fueling their bodies for life and performance. She continued with nutrition counseling in the outpatient setting. She enjoys establishing foundations with clients and assisting them in reaching their personalized goals in an environment that allows for them to be their authentic selves.
Lauren’s nutrition philosophy is based on Health at Every Size (HAES) and the intuitive eating model. She believes in assessing all aspects of a person (social, environmental, biological, and behavioral) in order to determine the most effective intervention and aims to meet her clients where they are in their journey through an individualized approach to nutrition counseling and education. Additionally, she hopes to lead her clients to discover that they can enjoy food while simultaneously meeting their specific nutrition needs.
In her free time, Lauren enjoys visiting family, discovering new coffee shops, and traveling to the coasts or different parts of Appalachia to hike and camp.
