Katie Fontaine is a board-certified Physician Assistant. She grew up in the Florida panhandle and then moved to Orlando to attend the University of Central Florida. There she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. She later attended the University of Toledo’s Physician Assistant Program located in Toledo, Ohio. There she completed her master’s in biomedical sciences and upon graduating moved to North Carolina. Prior to joining Avance, she worked at a primary care clinic in Smithfield, NC.
Physician Assistant Fontaine believes that patient education and patient-provider communication is the foundation to excellent healthcare. She has a passion for helping patients to understand their health care needs and seeks to empower the patient to be an active participant in his/her own health. She enjoys developing patient-provider relationships built on trust and open communication.
In her free time, Physician Assistant Fontaine enjoys spending time with her husband and dog. She enjoys hiking, strength training, and reading. She also enjoys traveling to the mountains for the weekend with her family when she is able.
