After working as a certified nurse assistant in a nursing facility, she then attended the Physician Assistant Program at East Carolina University. While there, she also acted as PA Class President. After her clinical training in the Raleigh-Durham area, she returned home to the Charlotte region. She has worked as a Physician Assistant in family medicine and primary care since 2012.
Jackie is passionate about practicing evidence-based, preventative medicine while also understanding that each patient is unique. She loves to get to know her patients individually and work together as a provider-patient team to build a practical medical plan. She also enjoys the complexity of caring for a patient with multiple chronic conditions as well as help manage diabetic patients.
Jackie’s other passion in medicine is teaching Advanced Practice Provider (APP) students. She has been a Graduate Preceptor to UNC-CH nurse practitioner students as well as a clinical preceptor and Adjunct Faculty Member to PA and NP students from Wingate University and ECU. She also annually participates in Wake Forest’s Summer Immersion Program, encouraging high school students to pursue a career as a PA. Jackie has also taken multiple APP leadership roles, including acting as Lead APC at Lakeside Primary Care as well as a committee member on the Novant Health Medical Group APC Council. Her goal is to motivate and encourage PAs and NPs towards leadership roles in their medical settings.
