Elizabeth Kaniaru is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). She completed her Bachelor in Nursing from University of West Georgia, and later received her Master of Science in Nursing from Duke University. Liz also pursued an endocrinology specialty at Duke, she has a special interest in Diabetes and Thyroid disorders.

Liz previously worked as a Registered Nurse for over 12 years in different capacities including psychiatry, medical surgical, and cardiology at Central Regional and WakeMed Hospital. In her work she strives to honor the dignity and humanity in each patient. She is passionate about providing patient-centered care and enjoys empowering patients through education, compassion and encouraging healthy lifestyle habits. Liz’s goal is to develop a partnership with patients and offer a holistic approach for better health outcomes.

Liz is originally from Kenya and speaks Swahili and English. In her spare time, Liz enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with her three daughters and husband. She also loves doing mission trips.
